Creative Life & Diseases - Shirley's Adventure in CAFA 09 & 291st Greeting, Jan 22, 2011

How are you? I do hope that you are doing well and enjoy your weekend.

This is a special week in my life -- I have retreated from the company earlier than the schedule and finished my career life of 38 years.

It is a pity that the unexpected disease and the 5 surgeries in the 11 months from Dec, 2009 to Nov, 2010 delays me to return my country and company with the better work and the knowledge that I had learned abroad as I planed at the time I came back from USA. I would still like to thank the God, my doctors, friends, colleagues, bosses and my family members. After all, I am alive and free from the cancer right now. The current diseases cannot be totally recovery according to the modern medicine theory yet, they can be controlled by the medicine.

With a little bit pity, but a grateful heart, I summarize my career life of 38 years in one word: A creative life that goes along with disease. :-)

-- In 1973, when I was 15 years old, I created the first elementary school for my company in a corps by the borderline between China and Russia. Then I left it for the first surgery in the 3rd year.

-- In 1976, I created the first medicine learning group in a middle school, to learn Chinese traditional medicine, such as acupuncture and to plant Chinese herb.

-- In 1978, when I was 20 years old, I became the only university student who had passed the first national examination after the Culture Revolution in my former high shool classmates ( in 70's, Chinese elementary school was for 5 years, middle school for 2 years and high school for 2 years). The strict physical examination and the first surgery made me lose 3 opportunities to be matriculated by the first-class universities, but the title of the model teacher of the province led me to a Normal College.

-- In 1983,I became the first professional assistant (then an instructor) of Ancient Chinese and Class Literature in a college in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. Then a disease and misdiagnosis finished my teaching career.

-- In 1992, when I was 34 years old, I started my first journeywork life in Shenzhen City, then was the first director of the information department in the first Securities Consultation Companyin China, an editor of the first series books in Chinese securities market. Some business model that I created in the securities data field has been working until now.

-- In 1993, I became the first editor of the Statistic and Chart Column of the magazine of Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Meanwhile, I was appointed to help create a national securities newspaper office -- Securities Times. There, I created its first information department, first database, first data pages, first web site, first series books, first data CD... as an editor, designer and director. During that time, fought with diseases every day, I completed both of my creative work and the studying as the only graduated student by airplane in a first-class university in Shanghai in all of my vacations and most of my weekends for 3 years.

-- In 1999, when I was 41 years old, my department became Panorama Networks Company. As one of its founders and its deputy general manager, the biggest proud thing was that we have created its special business model - to found a “overpass” among the investors, issuers, management departments and all of the participators of the Securities Markets via web site, newspaper and journal. At the same time, I completed my study as a graduated student by an American University in China; my academic thesis got the highest reward by Xinhua News Agency.

-- In 2002, our company was combined into the current company. I became its assistant general manager, and I have joined in the great career to create the first and a top multi-media Securities Information Company via TV, Web site, Magazine, Cell phone, Mini computer, Newspaper and so on in Chinese securities industry... During the time, I completed my study as a graduated student in an American University in USA.

As you have seen, the diseases led these big changes in my life and finished my career life ahead; meanwhile, the continuous fight with disease, has also offered me the courage to face anything bad and difficult; pushed me to cherish my limited time and life to create something new day and day. From this meaning, disease is in some strong motility to help me to learn, to create and to grow up every day, to live with a more positive and sunny style.

Disease is something bad; disease is something helpful.

So, I am going to go back to China Central Academy of Fine Artwith medicine, to continue my art learning while to fight with disease, to explore a unique style to found a better bridges of cross-culture exchange.

As long as I am alive for a day, I am going to learn, to create and to offer this world something beautiful and helpful for 24 hours...

How do you think of my choice? Do you have any suggestions, comments and opinions to me?
