Greeting

Possibilities -- Shirley's 526th Friendly Greeting from Beijing-- June 6, 2016

How are you? Have you had a good weekend and have you started a wonderful new week?

On my side, since I finished the examination in Beijing May 29, I have been involving myself into creating a new painting which jumped into my mind in my English lesson in the US in Nov or Dec, 2015.

I wished to use time for 5 months to complete two big size paintings under the directions of my tutors in Beijing since March 5, 2016 but for preparing to take part in the national English examination and worked on my music, I didn't come back Beijing until May 27.

I will have only 2 months, therefore, I am focus on the second painting, try to work out a frame how to express American Culture with Chinese art techniques which I have studied in China and what I have learned in the USA, try to create the first painting of my own American Culture Map Series – American State Birds or Flowers or both, since I was major in Flower and Bird Painting in both of China Central Academy of Fine Arts and Chinese National Academy of Arts.

Now, I have printed two big American maps and outlined the third but empty one, have found all of the 29 kinds of birds of the 50 states, 3,679 photos, 5 kinds of state flowers and 746 photos already. I have also appointed 2 of my tutors, they would come to see my work and give me some directions in the classroom this morning and this afternoon.

I am going to work on this series for 3 years and try to complete at least one painting one year.

Meanwhile, basic on the music work in Shenzhen in the past 3 months ( I had looked back my music study and creation in the past 11 years (Sept, 2005 to April, 2016) and had chosen and corrected a little of the music works and my music professor Meng Weiye has checked my works and corrected some of them. He has also coached me to sing and we have matched the music score together), I am lucky enough for a famous Chinese publishing house is helping me to create a Chinese version for my current learning, study and exploration.

According to their patient and detail directions, I am going to the biggest wholesale and retail markets of books in Beijing to do a short investigation. They would like to help me to start a road not only offline, but also online via their strong marketing ability.

Very often, many friends told me to give up music or poems or painting, just work on one thing, then I would be “ famous quickly ”. My answer is: if people think my work is too miscellaneous, that is right. Because Chinese art itself is a multiplicity or a comprehensive cultural phenomena. What I enjoy is just a cross-cultural and cross-interdisciplinary work or project, even though it is an extremely hard study and exploration course and I would not be "famous quickly" but spent much time, energy and money on it, it is " a career and a dream" which can help more people in the world.

Thanks the God and modern technology, the Era of Internet has offered the possibility for my dream to be true.

A good news is that my English school has announced the result of the national English Examination, my vocabulary part got 100%, but I have forgotten all of the other questions already. So, I would not know whether I can pass the examination until July 31. A bad news is that I am suffering this or that sickness since I came back to Beijing. Anyway, I am going to do my best to overcome them... I am sure, it is also possible to recover my health in the course of seeking a beautiful dream. Right?

How about you, do you have anything special to share in the past 1 week?

I am just a student on Arts of Painting, Music, English and Management, to work on the web site in my free time. I would really like to do somethings with what I have learned to make this little web site to be an Electronic Bridge of Cross - Culture and Comprehensive Arts, Language & Friendship. To help the others and this world while improving myself and realizing my own value of life.

I would really like to appreciate you for your understanding, directions, supports and help.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, you are welcome to write to shirley@ebridge.cn or leave your message on Message Board.
