Weekly Greeting

Enter A New Phase -- Shirley's 533rd Friendly Greeting from China-- August 8, 2016

How are you? Have you had a good weekend?

On my side, because of the good help of President Xu Yixiong and his team, the manuscript of the second book of my second cross-culture and comprehensive art series has been sent to Jinan University Press and a senior editor is checking it.

Before entering the emotion to work on the music, I have involved myself in the art study.

As a student of postgraduate course though I have attended the lessons of 58 professors in Beijing in the past 5 years, this is the first time I have a tutor in the true sense after passing the National English Examination and becoming a candidate for the master degree of fine arts.

In my heart, it is full of the appreciations.

In the short communication with my tutor, what makes me most moved is how Professor Mu Jiashen works hard and responsibly. As same as the American professors I had studied from, he responds my questions quickly and never over for 24 hours. Very often, he gives me a message in the early morning. For example, this morning ( Sunday morning), as soon as I got up, I found the message "to strengthen your work on studying from the ancient artist and your research job... "so that I could be involved myself into the study in the new phase quickly.

I do feel that now, I am working under the specific directions and help from a first-rate professor.

Do you know? Since July 15, in the past 23 days, I have put down my pencil but painted with brushes directly as I had done 5 years ago. But this time, I am working at a totally new start point. I am happy for feeling much freedom and it is helping to improve my confidence to improve myself on a higher and more free level.

Another good feeling is that after majoring in Chinese flower and bird painting for 5 years in Beijing, now, I am working on landscape which I have been wishing to learn… It will certainly enlarge my scope of knowledge and improve my knowledge structure, to help my cross-culture and comprehensive art dream strongly.

I would really like to cherish my luck and try to study and work as much as possible in the precious one year and 8 months under the directions of Professor Mu Jiashan directly.

So, even though someone wanted to rent my apartment of Shenzhen with a good price, I have refused it. I would really like to keep my current good and stable study and work environment. Although I have felt some financial pressure for I have retired from the company for years, I need time, stability and necessary work condition much more than money at this time.

I am going to work on my music jobs in the upcoming 1 month... I will not stop my painting jobs during the time.

How about you? Do you have anything special to share in the past 1 week?
I am just a student on Arts of Painting, Music, English and Management, to work on the web site in my free time. I would really like to do somethings with what I have learned to make this little web site to be an Electronic Bridge of Cross - Culture and Comprehensive Arts, Language & Friendship. To help the others and this world while improving myself and realizing my own value of life.

I would really like to appreciate you for your understanding, directions, supports and help.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, you are welcome to write to shirley@ebridge.cn or leave your message on Message Board.

Sincerely,

Shirley Yiping Zhang
