Do Addition or Do Subtraction? - Shirley's 334th Friendly Greeting,Jan 8,2012

This week, my music professor is sick and lives in the hospital. So, we have put off our recording plan until he leaves from the hospital some day.

Originally, I should work on correcting my book writing and editing, however, I am in the emotion to paint and to write music, therefore, this week, I have painted 3 new paintings, re-translated 2 poems and filled them into my music score.

Anyway, among these jobs, I most enjoy standing by the easel, to " Play " the lines, colors and to feel the elasticity that the brushes move over the paper while to enjoy the delight when I draft, color and complete a painting.

The more I paint, the more I enjoy the peaceful and the quiet in my heart. So that I am thinking, since I have been in 8 universities as a student on Chinese Language and Literature, Economics, Journalism (News), Management and Chinese Paintings for 14 years, since I have worked on my comprehensive art that relates to painting, music, language and literature for about 10 years, I have been making the addition. Maybe, it is the time to make a subduction, to focus my limited time and life on one or two points, stop digging many holes, but to dig a deep well?

However, the more I learn, the more I feel knowledge is infinite. Therefore, I am also thinking whether I should perform my original plan to major in Landscape Painting in Beijing for another 1 year after my current study (major in Flower & Flower) since Sep, 2012. After learning all the main projects (Flower & Bird, Landscape and Portrait; Chinese Gongbi, Xieyi, Mogu and Maibiao), then to focus myself on one or two things?

Many friends include my Chinese Painting Professor, Mr. Tao Hui advised me to start my new career as a professional artist instead of being a student in the art college again. Some friends in Beijing and abroad, would like to popularize my art works. Some the other friends are looking forward me to transform my art learning to be a business as soon as possible... However, I do not think that I have prepared ok no matter on my art theory, skills or on my health yet. About the first two things, I do feel there are too many projects in Chinese painting field, I have just studied superficially, my basic skills are not strong enough, I have not mastered many of these projects very well yet.

So, I still want to continue the study in Beijing. After making the addition in the art colleges for another 1 or 2 years, then to do the subtraction. However, whether I will lose some good opportunities?

I am not sure about this yet, I have not made any decision at this time. However, I am sure, learning is an endless process, no matter what will happen in my life, I will learn for whole of my life.

How about you? Do you have anything special to share this week? If you were me, what would you do?

I am just a student on Art of Painting, Music, English and Management, to work on the web site in my free time. I would really like to do a few things with what I have learned to make this little web site to be an Electronic Bridge of Inter-Art & Cross - Culture Exchange, Chinese Language Learning & Friendship Making. To help the others while to improve myself.

I would like to appreciate you for your understanding, directions, supports and help.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, you are welcome to write to shirley@ebridge.cn or leave your message on Message Board.
