What & Who Is the Best?-- Shirley's 269th Friendly Greeting, August 29, 2010

How are you? Have you had a good weekend?

Since I was informed to go back to the hospital to re-check my health August 11, 2010, I have been on the long road of seeing doctors.

After having a clear diagnosis on my backbone, joints and eyes, for avoiding accelerating the growing up of tumors on the other places, according to the doctors in one of the department of Beijing University Shenzhen Hospital, I left from the hospital and made a new appointment in another department August 26. I will have a biopsy to exclude cancer August 31, 2010. Then, I will make a new appointment in the third department for the third CT since August 11, to exclude cancer on another place. And then, I will go back to live in the first department to treat my bones and eyes... :-)

Since there will be some more CT here or there, I am thinking whether it is necessary to have another Pat-CT to exclude cancer on whole of my body as I did in Dec 22, 2009, even though I will have to pay whole of the fee by myself -- According to the rule of Shenzhen City, if I had a cancer, my medicine insurance would support the fee of Pat-CT; otherwise, I would pay by myself. Anyway, since time is just life, I rather then to pay. So, I will ask and to make sure whether the Pat-CT can resolve all of the problems relate to exclude cancer soon. :-)

On the long long road of seeing doctors, I have seen and experienced so many people and things. Something often in my mind is "What and who is the best?”

Thursday morning, August 26, 2010, when I got the same diagnosis from Peking University Shenzhen Hospital as Shenzhen First People's Hospital had done December 19, 2009 and made sure that the problem of my eyes' unclear is because of the disease of my backbone, I did not know what I should say at all.

One hand, I was so glad and so appreciated the two hospitals for their great work for me. The other hand, I felt so pity for the other 4 hospitals' opposite diagnosis in the long 8 months -- After I got the first diagnosis in Shenzhen First People's Hospital Dec 19, 2009, instead of taking any medicine, I went to see the doctors in the other hospitals for I wanted to see their diagnosis since I had no any symptoms except my erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) was higher and my eyes a little bit unclear since last October, but then, I could work for a long time on the computer and I could paint Chinese Gongbi easily. So, even though the doctors in Shenzhen First People’s Hospital told me that I had the sickness 100% and they alarmed me that if I did not treat it in time, I would be walk crippled, the no symptoms was because I had taken too many painkillers to stop my headache since 1993, just from September, 2008 to October, 2009, I took 11 boxes of painkiller. I still want to get the same judgment from the others for I could not forget the misdiagnose 18 years ago. Meanwhile, I tried to reduce and did not take painkillers as long as I could.

Then, since January, 2010, my eyes have been getting worse and worse; since March, 2010, my fingers changed bigger; during the early of June, for about 1 week, I could not move on the bed if I did not support my body with my arms, since August, I could not walk normally...

If saying that I could stand the ache on my bones, joints and stomach, to stop my headache by painkillers, the thing most confused me was my eyes. So, since last October, I have been to 6 hospitals to see doctors in China and in USA, 3 of the Chinese hospitals told me that my eyes there were no any problems, all of the unclear for I have been old enough or I had used my eyes too much, the unclear was a normal situation. The American hospital and the Shenzhen Eyes Hospital gave me same diagnoses. Now, it has been proved by Peking University Shenzhen Hospital. The unfortunate thing is that the secretory volume of my tears was 80% of normal people June 3, 2010. It was changed to be 30% of normal people August 19, 2010. One of my eye's vision with glasses has dropped to be 0.5 August 19, 2010 from 1.0 January 2010.

I almost believed the conclusion -- it is a normal physiological phenomenon to see anything unclear at my ago.

However, after living in Beijing University Shenzhen Hospital for a while, Sunday morning, August 29, 2010, when I was playing my own music that I created for a classical Chinese poem and sang it in English, but, I could not see the words clear on my notebook at all, so that I took 4 of my old glasses to try them one by one. When I tried the two of them that were matched in 2006 and January 2010, the unclear words changed clear much more than I wore the newest glasses that I matched March, 2010. The same thing on the two glasses is -- there is no any degree for the presbyopia at all.

Wow! My God! I was so happy for the wonderful finding. I could not help smiling, singing and dancing for I finally saw the hope on my eyes after the short treatment on my bone. You cannot imagine the endless appreciation in my heart to Dr. Yu Liu who came back from USA with her medicine PhD in Beijing University Hospital and Dr. Liu in Shenzhen First People's Hospital indeed.

So, as soon as I left the hospital, I made a table with the title -- Shirley's Sickness Diary, to record my own situation on my head, eyes, stomach, backbone, joints and so on every day, to be my own monitor of health. To offer my doctors the first hand data when I go back to the hospital...

Until now, I guess that maybe you have found my answer -- What and who is the best.

-- Dr. Liu in Shenzhen First People’s Hospital is the best, because he could find a disease before it had some typical symptoms.
-- Dr. Yu Liu in Beijing University Shenzhen Hospital is the best, because she could have a judgment according to my own actual situations, instead of the usual experience or the definition from the textbooks.
-- Both of them are the best, for they were thinking of or analyzing one problem from many different angles with a multidimensional style, instead of making a judgment from the simple or surface phenomenon, as someone had told me that at my age, it is impossible to have this kind of sickness; or at my ago, I should see unclear...

When I am writing here, I cannot help smiling -- since in most of the situations, this kind of backbone diseases “belongs to” the young people; the presbyopia “belongs to” the old people, maybe I have the disease and there is no the presbyopia just because I was only " 25 " years old? : -)

Meanwhile, I am thinking that when the time has entered the 21 century and internet times, one of the most important duties of the top management in an organization maybe is to train more combined talents who have the prospective minds and multidimensional thinking styles that base on the good and steady professional knowledge and skills? May be they are just the best ones and the backbone in an organization or a management team?

How do you think of my idea? Do you agree with me? Do you have anything special in your life this week?
I am just a learner on art of painting, music and English, to work on the web site in my free time. I would really like to do a few things with what I have learned to make this little web site to be an Electronic Bridge of Culture Exchange, Chinese Language Learning & Friendship making. To help the others while to improve myself.

I would like to appreciate your understanding, directions, supports and hope to get your friendly direction and help.
