Greeting

Combination-- Shirley's US Travel Diary -053 & 213rd Friendly Greeting --Tue, Aug 11, 2009

How are you? I do hope everything is good with you and you are enjoying your new week.

Today is the 315th day that I have been in the US. Monday morning, we started our last course in the US -- Supply Chain Management Seminar. We will have 4 examinations, 1 article abstract and presentation and 2 Assignments within the last 1 month.

The stomachache, that started from last Thursday, stopped my book reading. Since I could not sit to read, I stood up to work. -- I created a new peony painting.

I have been exploring some new methods to create my peony paintings since July 13. That is why, I have created 15 pieces of peony paintings in the short 28 days.

When I created my 14th peony painting last Saturday, I suddenly realized, when I am learning something new from book right now, I should not lose myself and lose something good from my art lesson for 7 years.

So, I re-started to think of combining the knowledge and method from the text book and the knowledge and skills from my art lesson, plus my own understanding and imagination, then, I found the picture was changed different and had some new and unique style of mine, so that almost all classmates who have seen this painting said that they enjoyed it. Also, some neighbors who I first met required me to paint for them.

I am thinking that management may be same, when we are learning some fresh and advanced management theories and experience from the other culture, we should not lose something good in our own culture. Try to combine the good parts from different cultures together, maybe the best way to create something most beautiful?

How do you think of this idea? Do you agree with me?

Take care and thanks, have a good new day.

I am just a learner on art of painting, music, English and Chinese language, to work on the web site in my free time. I would really like to do a few things with what I have learned to make this little web site to be an Electronic Bridge of Culture Exchange, Chinese Language Learning & Friendship making. To help the others while to improve myself.

I would like to appreciate your understanding, directions, supports and hope to get your friendly direction and help.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, you are welcome to write to shirley@ebridge.cn or Yiping007@MissouriState.edu, or to publish your opinions in the forum.
