Greeting

Quake Is Ruthless, Love Is Warm - Shirley's 142nd Friendly Greeting -- Mon, June 2nd, 2008

How are you?

It’s the first time that I have not written any letter via my little web site for 2 weeks since August, 2005, for too many things have happened in China and in my world.

Until the time 12:00, June 1st, 2008, the 8.0 magnitude earthquake in Sichuan province on May 12nd has killed 69.016 people, 368.545 people injured and 45 552.965 people are suffering from the disaster.

Whole of China and all of the Chinese people have been caring for the people in the disaster area. From our president to the common residents, everyone wants to offer help.

On May 13rd, our company published an open letter and called every colleague to offer a loved heart to the disaster area. Along with the members of the general manger office donated money at the first, the other people followed us. On May 23rd, the most excellent group in the company -- all members of the Chinese Communist, included the general manager, a vice general manager, 2 assistant managers and most of the department managers handed some "special party fee" with our salary to support the disaster area. And in our industry many party members who are also high officials donated one month’s salary of theirs. On May 28th, some colleagues donated voluntarily once more.

As the biggest multimedia information company in the Chinese securities industry, our reporter of TV, photography, web sites and magazine are working in the disaster area. They have experienced some aftershocks and they are welcome by the local listed companies, stock-jobbers and management organizations.

We believe that the best support to the people in the disaster area is just to do our best to work. So, with some yellow ties on the arms or chests, we spent the national mourning days on the work positions May 19th to May 21st.

Except daily work, I completed an important working report to the board chairman on May 22. I helped our cooperation partners to launch an important cooperation project on May 28; I am doing something to help the company to enlarge our business in Shanghai.

In my limited free time, I still keep my art of painting, music and language learning. Now my painting and music learning has entered the 6th year. So, my art teacher is helping me to apply a Chinese painting grade qualification. It has past the assessing in Shenzhen and has been sent to Beijing. My new music teacher is continuing to correct the problems in my singing and she is confident of me. So, I am working harder on improving my English language level.

I have decided to attend some English examinations on July 6th. I will have to complete two English lessons with 800 pages within 40 days. So, since May 22, I have refused all of the invitations or visiting except working. I complete 20 pages of English lesson each day and I complete 70 pages on the weekend.

How about you? Is there anything special in your life and work?
I am just a learner on that art of painting, music, calligraphy, languages and to work on the web site in my free time. I would really like to do a little bit things with what I have learned to make this little web site to be An Electronic Bridge Of Culture Exchange, Friendship and Language Learning. To help the others while to improve myself.

I appreciate your understanding, directions and supports. I do hope to get your friendly help...
