Shirley Sung Chinese鐚Taiwan鐚Popular Song--010: Zhou Zai Xiangjian de Xiaolu Shang-- Walking On A Path in the Country

LISTEN TO SHIRLEY SING THE SONG

During my time at university (1978 ? 1983), China had just begun its policy of reform and opening up and a lot of Taiwanese college songs appeared on Mainland campuses for the first time since the Cultural Revolution. As one of the first group of young students starting university after personally experiencing this national tragedy I was very lucky to hear a lot of Taiwanese college songs, to feel the age people and to learn about their culture on the other side of the Taiwan Strait. After many years of listening to revolutionary language their easy and relaxed tone and lyrics felt very fresh to me. I quickly learned many of the songs as a form of cultural learning.

Earlier this evening, after practising the song a few times and recording it twice, my vocal music teacher said it was OK. :-)

I do hope that my introduction and my singing the song will be a little help to you in knowing more about Chinese culture and language... :-)

MAIN MEANING OF THE SONGLISTEN TO SHIRLEY SINGING THE SONG:

Walking on the Path of the Countryside

Lyrics and Melodized By Ye Jiaxiu

Walking on a path in the countryside,
an old cow that is returning in the evening
is my only company,
The blue sky matches the of setting sun on her chest,
the rich colored clouds are the clothes of the sunset glow.

Carry a hoe on the shoulder,
The songs of cowboys are flowing,
Wo wu, wo wu, wo wo,
They are singing,
A short flute is flowed at a lightly far away place...

Smiling is on my face,
to sing a little song of villeggiatura,
let my thoughts are flying in the night wind,
no matter how much lonely or disconsolate,
they have gone along with the night wind,
to be forgot on the path of the countryside...

Walking on a path in countryside,
an old cow that is returning in the evening
is my only company,
The blue sky matches the setting sun on her chest,
the rich colored clouds are the clothes of the sunset glow.
