Greeting

A New Start... Shirley's 415th Friendly Greeting August 19, 2013

How are you? Have you started a wonderful new week? I hope you have.

This is Monday evening in China, I should be at hospital at 2:00pm in the afternoon according to the appointment between the hospital and me before I went to Guangzhou. However, I have been working on something I must do since I came back Shenzhen from Guangzhou; also, I hope I can write and send this letter to you before I leave for the hospital. So, I will be there tomorrow morning.

Since I wrote to you last time, mainly I have done three things:

First of all, I have made the 3rd negotiation with a technology company, for I wanted to upgrade my current personal web site to be a business one. They has given me their price to complete this development within 2.5 months. But, it sounds like the price is too expensive to me. I will have to re-think of whether it is worth for a while.

Secondly, I have summarized what I had done on the cross-culture and comprehensive art project in the past 12 years, and made a speech in the reading event of Guangdong Province in Guangzhou, Saturday, August 17, 2013.

During the process, I was touched very much for what Jinan University Press did for me:

-- They had made a card to introduce my book and DVD, also they had printed some bookmarks with my paintings in the book and in the DVD and sent the readers who came into the meeting place.

--Three of their team picked up me at the train station, 6 or 7 people helped me to hang up the paintings with Chinese classical poems and English translation on them, looked after the readers and made videos and took pictures...

-- The president of Jinan University Press – Mr. Xu Yixiong and several managers of the Press and Jinan University invited me to have a later dinner after we completed the job at about 9:00pm. And we had a good talking until 11:00pm.

I do feel that Jinan University Press is not only my good director, trainer and supporter of my project, but also they have become my good friends during the hard work together.

The best news from Guangzhou is:

-- I have been given a new topic to write a new book to introduce something about American culture via recording something I had seen and I had heard in person verily. One of the best planners of the Publishing Press – Mr. Du Xiaolu who is the director of the Liberal Art Editorial Office/Department of the publishing house and the general manager of a company at the university will be my directed director.

-- My last book and DVD will also be continued and be published by the publishing house.

The two books should be handed in next May and to be published next August.

-- They would also like to help me on the other hand.

Thirdly, I have connected the Office of Chinese Language Council International for I hope to get some more professional directions and help abroad and I have gotten some positive responding.

With an appreciated heart to Jinan University Press, to the Office of Chinese Language Council International and all of the officers, experts, editors and friends who have helped me and my project with their sincerity, responsible work and insight, I came back Shenzhen in the heavy rain.

Even though I had to take painkillers to stop my
stomachache before I started my speech in Guangzhou, and I felt the ache still when I was speaking and singing on the platform in the meeting place, then I had diarrhea 8 times within 6 hours and I felt the edema on my hands again, still I kept making the phone calls with the experts of the Office of Chinese Language Council International in Beijing...

There was full of the appreciation and hope in my heart.

Therefore, as soon as I felt better last evening, I got up to work and I completed a new painting. After all, I am an art student, if I did not paint for three days, I would feel that I had not done my proper business. :-)

You can see it below and hope to bring you a big smile.

I am going to treat my own sicknesses at the hospital for a while, then I will continue to work hard to help my own motherland and more people in the world via the little project and my art works on a new starting point. :- )

How about you? Do you have anything to share in the past several days?
