Greeting

The 18th Friendly Greeting From Shirley, China, Sun, Dec 18, 2005

How are you? Is everything well with you? I do hope you are enjoying your weekend with many smiles and an easy heart...

This week, in my professional field in the company, one of my projects entered the technology development phase. I do hope the first period project will be completed in the end of the 2nd quarter next year. Then I will hand it to the other people to run it. I am often the person to create and open a new project, then to hand it to the others … -: )

In my spare time, I keep painting, creating music, singing and working on the web site.

Oh, do you believe that there is a prelife in the world? Both of my melodizing and vocal music teachers thought maybe there is because they are surprised why I can create some music that have caught the basic characteristics, tone and feelings of a classical poem's even though I was not major on music creating at all. :-) My composer teacher made a joke that if I were not a musician in my prelife, then my former generations were Chinese folk musicians 500 years ago... :-)

They did not know the understanding and enjoyment to the Chinese classical poems are from my bone. I started to learn them since I could speak and I started to read my father's thick books when I was 8 or 9 years old. The discrimination in the Culture Revolution made me stay with my books that were inhibitive in most of holidays and weekends in that times.

When I was a student in the university, I told my mother that I wanted to write my bachelor thesis on Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1912) novels for it is easier than the other parts. Then, my mother recited a lyrics by Song Dynasty (A. D. 960-A.D.1279) poet Su Shi and asked me to connect her to recite the follow lines. After knowing I could not. Do. My mother said to me that you were not match to be a university student on Chinese classical language and literature. Her serious tone and words shocked me so much so that I completed my paper with a A mark on Song Dynasty Lyrics after reading and studying Tang Poem Collected Edition and Song Lyrics Collected Edition that include about 100 thousands poems…:-)

Can you imagine? In Oct this year, I went back home to visit my parents, after hearing my created music and my mother gave me an idea me create a Chinese classical poem music book and a CD someday. When I saw my mother's white hair and thought of many years ago, she did not allow me to enter any band and forced me to give up my dream to enter an art or music school after the Culture Revelation was just finished. I had so many feelings in my heart. I have not mentioned any pain and hard parts in my life to my parents since I started to major on the Chinese classical language and literature, because I know as all of the parents, they loved me and they were thinking for me according to the social condition in that times.

I often think that anything has two sides, a bad thing has a good side and a good thing has a bad side. So, I would really like to remember the good sides in my life, to keep a very optimistic and healthy psychology to face life and the others. So, I am really happy that the bad times had past and China has really entered a new and opener times. I am a lucky person and a happy daughter who can work on something I deeply love from my bone finally... :-) I am sure, you are also happy for me as a friend, right?
I am just a learner on art, music, English and the work on the web site. Anyway, I would really like to do a little bit things with what I have learned to make this little web site to be An Electronic Bridge Of Culture Exchange, Friendship, and Language Learning. During the process to help the others and to improve myself. :-)

I do appreciate your understanding, directions and supports. I do hope to get your great help coutinuously now and in the coming time... :-)
