Greeting

The 41st Friendly Greeting From Shirley, China, Sun, June 11, 2006

How are you? Is everything well with you? I do hope you are well and enjoy your weekend.

A good news in my professional field is that the register users on one of my projects that has not been completed has had over 10,000 people and started to bring revenue for the company.

Except my projects and the daily work, I was given two new jobs. One is to update an agreement with our biggest shareholder. The other is to organize a yearly singing and speech contest in July. As a new and quickly developed multimedia information company with television, web sites, magazine, newspaper and most of mediums, we are unique and young. The average age of staff is only 30. Over 80% of people have bachelor, master or doctoral degrees. So, we pay more attention to work on setting up our corporation culture to improve people's professional level. Also, we organize many activities in the free time, such as football, mountain climbing, yoga, performing, English learning, speech on how to be a good professional and even how to dress in the office. Our target is to solidify our staff and make everyone get more confidence to the company and our career, to offer them some bigger rooms to develop themselves... Anyway, we have to think of how much money that the company can offer... :-)

What is your corporation culture? Does your company organize any events for the employees in your company? Do you enjoy working in your company? Why?

This week, I also got a good surprise from a girl who was a typist in 1993 when she was a 19 years teenage and graduated from a middle school from a far away countryside when I was her department manager. At the first, I had to teach her everything, even how to make a telephone and use a fax... also, I asked her to learn her high school lesson in her free time ? I asked all people to learn something higher than their current degrees and to prepare to face the hot competition. One night, our department had to publish about 11 pages in the newspaper before 00:00, my serious attitude and in a hurry made her cry in the washroom... Now, 13 years has past, she has graduated from a famous college and became an editor and a formal resident in the City. So, she called me and came to my office to express her thanks to me for she thinks that I have helped her changing her fate. I was so happy for her so that I could not help to hug her to celebrate her...Yes, right now, 90% of my former colleagues in my former department have become department managers, 7 of them have taken their master or doctoral degrees and be working in the North America. When I think of these, I do feel that was worthies to work hard with them together to open and create a totally new career in the so hard time --we had given up 7 yearly holidays and we often worked for 24 hours, sometimes over 48 hours continuously. Anyway, I gave the girl a suggestion to get marriage with her boyfriend, to set up a family and to have a baby, to enjoy her life as a woman at the first, then to take a higher degree, to think of starting a new career. After all, as a woman, family should be the No. 1 in my opinions :-)

What is your thoughts about a career and a family? Which is more important?

I am just a learner on art, music, English and the work on the web site. Anyway, I would really like to do a little bit things with what I have learned to make this little web site to beAn Electronic Bridge Of Culture Exchange, Friendship, and Language Learning. During the process to help the others and to improve myself. :-)

I do appreciate your understanding, directions and supports. I do hope to get your great help continuously now and in the coming time...

If you have any questions, comments and suggestions, please write to shirley@ebridge.cn , or shirleyz004@haoo.com, You are welcomed to publish your opinions in the forum, too. :-)
