Greeting

The 46th Friendly Greeting From Shirley, China, Sun, July 16, 2006

How are you? Is everything well with you?

This week, a new technology support system which has been under development for nearly 2 years was launched within the company. In the realization that today's competition is focused on technology and staff teamwork we chose and invited nearly 30 engineers from the project to join us and they are now part of our technology team.:-)

This week I went with a group of managers to visit the Hong Kong branch of Reuters and a company department of the Hong Kong stock exchange. We went to learn from their management experience and their ways of dealing with information. I was impressed by their advanced ideas and management techniques and also their hard work and their sincerity. I feel that it is necessary to frequently make the effort to learn from first class companies and organizations.

At the moment there are only two customs points between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, so if you enter China via Hong Kong you have to go through my city.

After the tragedy of the Cultural Revolution had ended, it was decided that in order to open the eyes of the Chinese people, to have a window on the world, to learn advanced ideas from abroad and to act as a proving ground, Special Economic Zones would be set up of which Shenzhen was the first one. After about 25 years hard work Shenzhen's combined economic strength makes it the 4th most powerful city in China with a population of 8.5 millions and over 2 million formal residents. From a small fishing village of 5000 people 25 years ago, Shenzhen has become the most modern and richest city in China. Finance, tourism, high technology and the import and export industry have become its pillar industries. People say that Shenzhen has New York's pace of life and the beauty of San Francisco. More and more westerners and foreign students come here to start their careers, and more and more people from Hong Kong buy their houses here... :-)

Have you ever been to China? Do you have any plans to come to China? Where did/will you go through customs? Hong Kong or elsewhere?

You are welcome to come to China via Hong Kong and my city. :-)
I am just a learner in art, music, English and work on the web site in my free time. Anyway, I would really like to do a little with what I have learned to make this little web site An Electronic Bridge Of Cultural Exchange, Friendship, and Language Learning. During the process of helping others I hope to improve myself. :-)

I do appreciate your understanding, direction and support. I do hope that I continue to get your great help now and in the future...

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please write to shirley@ebridge.cn , or shirleyz004@yahoo.com, You are also welcome to publish your opinions in the forum. :-)
