Greeting

The 48th Friendly Greeting From Shirley, China, Sun, July 30, 2006

How are you? Have you had a good week? I do hope you are well and have a relaxed and easy weekend.

Except working on my projects and the daily work this week, to be entrusted by the company, I organized a donation for the disaster areas in Guangdong province in China -- be affected by a typhoon, the continuous rainstorms and strong winds led floods and mud-rock flows in the North and East areas of Guangdong. Many mountains coasted, many buildings broken down, many schools and factories were closed, about 200 people have died, thousands and thousand people are homeless ...So, the government has called all of the people to do something to help the disaster areas. For the weather is quite hot on my side, the highest temperature was over 37 C degree last week and the first few days this week, instead of matter things, money is something most useful and helpful to the people who are suffering the flood and disaster...

Except asking managers to donate as an order, we did not ask the others must do the same thing, we just attached a written proposal to tell all of the people what had happened, they can do some thing they want according to his/her free wills. However, on the 3th day, except several lying-in women, all of the 14 departments, 100% of the staff in the company took part in the donation. Some of the individuals and departments donated their reward from their speech competition last week; some people who have low income also donated some percent of their salary...

When I was reading the statistic data, I was so touched so that I could not help to think of a Chinese Folk Song: The Flowing Clouds In the High Sky and its beautiful lyrics:

The flowing clouds in the high sky,
there are fine and shade.
The people on the ground,
there are reunion and apart.
We are going south or north,
but there is no near or far away,
for we are on the same life road.

The flowing clouds in the high sky,
is the timely rain,
to blossom thousands and thousands of flowers,
to bring the world spring.
to respect the old people
to love the young children,
to admire the great love,
to help every family in a happiness...

Do not say the traveling is too hard,
one tree can not be a forest.
As long as each one plants one tree,
the desert can be covered by the green.
Do not complain the world is too cold,
As long as each one offers a piece of wood,
A hard stone can become gold...

Does your company do the same thing to help the people who are suffering disasters? Do you take part in this kind of thing usually?

I am just a learner on art, music, English and the work on the web site in my free time. During the process to help the others and to improve myself. :-)
