Shirley's Painting

I love art and music. I wanted to learn them in an art or music college from my childhood. The Culture Revolution in China made me lose the opportunity to learn them in my golden age. Fortunately, after the tragedy times was finished and China has had a so great and lovely changing, after I was able to enjoy my work in some journalism, information and IT industry as a "management art" and completed many obligations in my life road, on March,17, 2003, I paintd my first Gouache picture after stopping for over 20 years, and I have been keeping painting until now. I often think, it's a huge pity that could not work on something I really love. But, it is also not a totally bad thing, because the life experience and misery in the past time, has become my treasure and wealth to bring me more creative power and source right now. Art and music will be something my favourites to accompany whole of my rest life...

I am learning Gouache, Chinese Xiyi (Freehand Brushworks), Gongbi and Baimiao.I am going to learn oil.

Chinese Freehand Brushworks asks artists to paint with brushes and colors directly instead of making a draft at the first. So, we have to pay more attention to its artistic conception instead of the feature itself.

Chinese Gongbi needs to make a draft by pencil carefully, and be colored at least 9 times. It needs a long time to work. It is very elaborate, we have to pay more attention to the feature itself and the skills.

Chinese Bai Miao is the foundation of the Chinese Gong Bi as its draft. It has changed to be an especial painting sort now. :-)

I am learning on the Chinese and Western painting styles. My dream is to combine both of them to create my own style. So, I am learning from the traditional and modern arts and artists, also from you.

I do hope to get your help and directions. meanwhile, if you have any suggestions, advices, comments and questions, please write to shirley@ebridge.cn,I will meet you with many smiles.
