 This week, when I was translating a new literature story "Gentleman Club鈥� by Mr. Bruce Holland Rogers, "Hamlet" -- the name that I have forgot for a long time suddenly jumped into my eyes. During I was re-checked something about Hamlet from Shakespeare Collected Edition, I thought of that I had written a short essay as my English writing practice 4 years ago. :-)
Anyway, when I reread it now, I do feel it is too surface indeed. :-) But, just as a background of my English learning, I would like make it on my web site. :-) Thanks a lot for readied it and I do hope to get your directions and help. :-)
Thinking Of Something from Hamlet...
Hamlet is the first works I touched by Shakespeare, just this works made me start to be interested in Shakespeare and read all of his works in my university times, of course in Chinese.
My favorite tragedies by Shakespeare are Hamlet and King Lear. The long words of Lear in the storm touched my heart so much, even though many years passed, I sound like remember the shouting from a father, a king and a kind old person who was tricked! The tragedy of Hamlet is the tragedy of a times and his personal quality also. His indecisive made him lose so many opportunities to revenge his dead father...
In the comedies by Shakespeare, I most enjoy the Merchant of Venice. The great and long commerce tradition and smart Italian businessmen gave me a deep impression.
When I write here, I could not help to think of 2000, when I was in Roma. After visiting the Pool For Making Promises, some smart businessmen how to make many people in our group to be interested in buying local goods! Wow! They spoke simple Chinese, they knew some traditions of China, they put up so big passion to sale their things, they made many calm people changed to be excited to buy one by one... so that when we left Rome, many of people had to buy one or two suitcases for their shopping... :)
 As far as the history theaters of Shakespeare, I feel it just likes a long roll picture that shows us a real history of England with a kind of great art forms. Maybe Henry VI is most worth of reading one? I am not sure...:-)
