Dr. Yao Shunxi taught me face to face when I was a student of China Centra Academy of Fine Arts 2010-2011.
On his lesson, I did find that traditional Chinese paintings could be studied and painted that ways -- to change a Chinese Gongbi Painting to be a Xieyi Painting and to change a Chinese Xieyi to be Gongbi Painting. With this training style that he created, students could slowly, but learn the Chinese painting Technique very complete and very steady. His teaching style has gotten the gold award of CAFA.
With so much respect, I called him at the time I was in a confusions in the process to learn Chinese classical paintings and always he gave me a very good answer.
