Poetry -- the Core of Painting, the Soul of Music

Since Chinese painting is a complex of poem, calligraphy, picture and stamp. Both calligraphy and picture serve for the poem, to express its meaning and idea with character and picture. There is no doubt that poem is the core of a painting.

Similarly, vocal music serves its lyric poem;instrument music serves a beautiful artistic conception. Poem is also the soul of music.

Based on this opinion, I choose music to help non-Chinese speakers and my audiences to learn Chinese poetry—core of Chinese painting in the process of enjoying the pictures. To understand its meaning, feel its artistic conception and to remember its language and vocabulary via listening music or singing.

There are many different classical Chinese poems, at this time, for beginning, I just choose the shortest Chinese classical poem: Jue Ju—a poem of four lines, each containing of five or seven characters, with a strict tonal pattern and rhyme scheme.

I really hope that my study and exploration will be of some help for you to learn Chinese culture and language naturally.
