Friend--014: Some Chinese Xieyi Paintings By My Niece & Little Friend

Wenjing is my lovely young little niece, the only duaghter of my younger brother. She is a 13 years old middle school student.

As her grandfather and her aunt -- my father and me, she loves painting and she is learning gouache painting in her free time.

During I was in Wuxi City to spend Eve of Chinese Spring Fasitival and Chinese New Year's Day. In the short 3 nights, we painted together for 2 nights. She was so interested in Chinese Xieyi -- Freehand brushworks painting and she asked me to teach her. So, as soon as I reached Wuxi, my sister in law drove us to buy some tools for painting. :-)

When I taught her to paint, I just asked her to imagine how a flower looks like and I just showed her how to use the color and brush, I did not do anything for her on her paper. Immediately, I found that she has a very good nature on painting. As my mother's words, she can learn to do the same thing that her aunt (Me) needs to learn for 4 years within 1 year... :-)

As her grandmother mother, father and her aunt, my mother, my younger brother and me, she plays music instrument, too. Her piano level has reached 7th grade. It is a pity that time did not allow me to make a record of her piano music. Maybe next time?

The picture below was painted by my niece on Feb 19, before I left in next morning, she worked on it until 0:30. I really thought that she painted some wonderful bamboo leaves, they are better than mine. :-)

The picture below was painted on Feb 17, the same day night when I just came to Wuxi, on the eve of Chinese New Year, she worked on it before going to eat dinner and after dinner. There were so much enthusiasm. :-)

The picture below is my niece and her cousin, a lovely young boy, he is very clever and intelligent, that night, when I was teaching my niece to paint, he was helping my mother to download a Chinese classical poam and music, also had handed my mother to here or there in the resturant. I saw him first time and I do like him. So I rewarded him with a "red bag"(According to Chinese custom, the old persons should give a red bag with money in it to the young family for luck and happiness) for his kind. :-)

I do wish my niece and her cousin, I do wish Chinese children happy and lucky, growing up with smiles in the sunshine.
