Valued Friendship...Shirley's 60th Friendly Greeting, Sun, Oct 21, 2006

Hi,Dear Friends
 How are you? Have you had a good week? I do hope you are well and have a relaxed and easy weekend.
In the last quarter of a year, everything is tight in the company. One of my projects got the best comments from the biggest shareholder Thursday. The other three ones are making me under a huge pressure to complete them before New Year's Day. Anyway, one of my researching reports will be finished with about 50000 Chinese words soon; people make a joke that I am writing another disquisition for another doctoral degree.
The deepest feeling this week is that I am so lucky to have so much valued friendship.
Two woman friends invited me to an international water club to enjoy a high quality service; my piano teacher invited me to listen to a concert; my cleaning lady keeps my home clean and comfortable and keeps my refrigerator full of the fruit, vegetable and sea food. Since she found that I was in stomachache, she started to pay more attention to my nutrition; if the today before yesterday was a fish + vegetable, today is just shrimp + vegetable and tomorrow will be a crab + vegetable. I am not sure whether it is good for me, but, it is her heart.
The biggest help is that a friend and his company have made my little investment getting a good yield and it can support me to retire ahead at any time.
I was strange why he wanted to help me since we had not connected for many years as former colleagues. I was touched with a big surprise when I got his telephone and wanted to help me free, even he picked up me to do some necessary prepared work before the little investment started in person as a president! I did not want to accept any help until his company signed a contract with me and agreed to take a percent of the yield for their work for me.
Until a holiday, I was invited to have a lunch in his home and met his wife and child -- Ha, I just realized why -- I had helped them, when they were quite poor so that she had to find a job after she just gave birth to their baby for 3 months. I had supported both of them to fall in love and to get married, when most of people thought both of them did not match. He had a doctoral degree and came back from the U.S., she was a countryside girl from a technical secondary school. I accepted her to be an assistant editor in my department, when both of them were in a very difficult time and lived in a rented apartment. I felt, that even though she had not a degree as we required, but she had a very good potential quality, was intelligent and hardworking.She has a strong backbone to work in the difficult time. The most important is that she wanted to learn something new every day with a very strong enterprise heart... Anyway, she also made a huge trouble for me for she was just one of my colleagues to make the terrible mistake 10 year ago. As her manager, I asked to punish myself instead of her and the other girl.
Right now, she has been a manager with a bachelor degree and she is preparing to take her master degree. Their son has been 11 years old and also plays piano. I am so happy for them and to see their achievement and their magnificence home鈥�
Even though I do not have any family in the city with 7 million people right now. I just did a little bit things that I should do on my position. I did get so much warm and valued friendship from a lot of great friends with beautiful hearts... What a lucky person I am!

Chinese Xieyi--0101(Flower and Bird): Happy In the Spring
This is my first pheasant. My teacher gave me 85 marks and suggested me to send it to an exhibition, that our company invited me to take part in. He chose 24 pictures from my three sorts of paintings -- Gouache Paintng, Chinese Xieyi Painting and Chinese Gong Bi Painting. But, I just took 6 ones. I do not think that I have painted the wings of pheasant well. As a learner in art field, as an employee in the company, I should keep an unambitious attitude and a "Low-Pitched" in the public occasions. Then, I can take much more time to learn and to improve myself. What I most want is to live, work and learn in a quiet, peaceful and relaxed circumstance, instead of being troubled by the reporters, flash lights and so on. For me, a talent, a skill and a beautiful heart inside is something as a huge wealth with value much more than something beauty surface. Anyway, one of my friends wanted to eat my pheasant. Do you agree with this idea?

Shirly Sung China (Inner Mongolian) Folk Song--036: The Night Of the Grassland
I would like to re-sing and re-record the songs on my web site for I wanted to improve their quality along with my vocal music learning. I started the work in my vocal music lesson Saturday night. Can you imagine? 3 years and 11 months ago, I did not know how to sing at all, then, one day, I felt myself just like a butterfly to open my two couple of wings to breath when I was singing, but the two couple of wings could not be connect together well. Then, another day, I felt hat I was just like a gourd, the two balls of it were connected together to push the breath into my head. Right now, my feeling is that I am just like a bee, the three parts of belly, chest and head have connected together as a big belly of bee to push the breath to go out of my pate鈥� Singing has become so comfortable and so wonderful exercise and feeling.

Chinese Classical Poem 0062 & Shirley Created Music-0052: Staying Overnight in a Temple on the Mountain
I was smiling when I was thinking to introduce a new Chinese classical poem by Tang Dynasty (618-907) poet -- Li Bai. For he is my favorite poet, so that some of friends had written to me and wished me to introduce more poets. Ok, I will do that after introducing this one. This poem expresses, how a high building where Li was on and what he felt in the high mountain with a unique imagination as a poet -- The stars were so near him so that he could take them off as long as he stretched out his hand. Anyway, he was so carefully to hold his breath and did not dare to speak aloud, he had fear of being found by the fairy in the heaven. I enjoyed the poem as soon as I read it. So quickly I wrote a piece of music to match it. I do hope my effort will be a little bit help to your Chinese learning and to know something more about Chinese culture.

Friends--005: Ms. He-- My Wonderful Cleaning Lady
Last week, when I came back from my travel in the middle of the night, I saw some green vegetable, an egg and some pickles in the different dishes on the table and a bowl of porridge in the electric cooker in the kitchen. I knew all of them were prepared by my cleaning lady. In fact, in the past 6 years, it is her to support me and my home to make me to live in a very comfortable and cleaning life environment at home. So today, I would like to show you an article that I wrote for her last year -- my cleaning lady ? Ms. He. Even though she would never understand anything about what I had written for her. But I wanted to remember her in my heart through my writing. I do hope it is a little bit help you to know a common Chinese woman and Chinese culture.

I am just a learner on art, music, English and the work on the web site in my free time. Anyway, I would really like to do a little bit things with what I have learned to make this little web site to be An Electronic Bridge Of Culture Exchange, Friendship and Language Learning. During the process to help the others and to improve myself.
