The 35th Friendly Greeting From Shirley, China, Sun, April 16,2006

Hi,Dear Friends

Happy Easter!

In China, Easter is not a holiday, but, there are still many people celebrate it as a Christian festival so that a girl told me that it was difficult to order buses for the company’s mountain climbing on Saturday for the Easter would be on the same day and we have changed our time.

Do you celebrate Easter? What do you do during Easter? What customs of Easter do you have?

Today is April 16, that means that I have worked on Shirley's Languagefor about one year ? I created it on May Day Holliday in 2005, now it has been for 52 weeks and I have I written, translated, edited, and recorded 118 works. Including 36 Daily Chinese, 40 Classical Poems, 38 Contemporary Chinese Lyrics: 4 English via Chinese. Beside, I have also created 26 piece of music to match these classical poems…

Now, I am thinking to go out of the original thoughts last May and to create a 3-grade’s Shirley’s Chinese Learning Style:

Daily Chinese: for the friends who are just beginning to learn Chinese.

Classical Poems and Contemporary Chinese Lyrics: for the friends who have had a middle Chinese language level.

English via Chinese: for the friends who have had an advanced Chinese level. :-)

Today, I also have opened a new little column Vocabulary in Chinese for all of the friends.

I am trying to do my best to explore a more suitable style to help you to learn Chinese with a quicker, easier and more convenient way. :-) I do hope to get your help and directions. : -)

Chinese Gongbi --018(Flower, Bird & Character): Beautiful Dreamer
First time I taught myself to create a picture on the silk, its cost is higher 14 times than the highest quality paper. So, I painted it very carefully and worked on it for over 80 hours. Anyway, when I prepared to color a background for it, I suddenly found there was a special beautiful when it was on the white silk. I suddenly realized why most of traditional Chinese Gongbi pictures did not color their backgrounds. :- ) So, I have left it on the white background. Maybe I should paint another one with a background color, then to compare their art results? I have not made a decision yet. What is your feeling about it?

Chinese Art Song--0017: Red Bean Lyrics
In Chinese culture, red bean always relates with miss someone. Most of time, it expresses a missing feeling to a lover, a friend or a family member. We have touched a Chinese classical poem Chinese Classical Poem--009: Xiang Si -- Red Bean Seeds by Tang Dynasty poet Wang Wei. And this lyric was written by Can Xuejin in his Hong Lou Meng -- A Dream of Red Mansions . About Cao and his Novel, you can review them via the link: Chinese Folk Song/ Classical Poem--0018: Wang Ning Mei -- Frowning In Vain .

Chinese Classical Poem--0040:Ye Yu Ji Bai -- Writing To My Wife In the Rain Night --By Li Shangyin [Tang]
Li Shangyin is one of the most important poets in Later-Tang Dynasty. Even now, in the Western society, he is very famous. Among the 4 Chinese poems in London's Underground Railway, there is one by him. We have touched his another two poems Chinese Classical Poem--0025:Wu Ti -- No Title and Chinese Classical Poem--0031: No Title 02 -- Telesthesia and I do hope they can help you to understand this poem. As usual, I wrote a piece of music to match it and hope you enjoy it. :-)

Chinese in Daily Life-0021( Sentence:122--125): How To Find Transport.
Today, I offer you some new sentences about finding a vehicle, for I think that maybe the first language problem to start a travel in China will start from the time that you arrive at a Chinese airport. For helping you to mast the new sentences in Daily Chinese, I have opened a new column -- Vocabulary in Chinese , to offer you the names of the common vehicles. I do hope both of them can support each other and be helpful to your Chinese learning and your travel in China. :-)

Vocabulary In Chinese 001(No.001-003): Forty New Words About Vehicles
Today is the first time I start a new column Vocabulary in Chinese. I would like to introduce some new words about vehicles. You can hit any Chinese character that you need helped, to see its Chinese pinyin, pronunciation, and meaning and follow me to read it. Hope my new exploring will be a little bit helpful to your Chinese learning.

I am just a learner on art, music, English and the work on the web site. Anyway, I would really like to do a little bit things with what I have learned to make this little web site to be An Electronic Bridge Of Culture Exchange, Friendship, and Language Learning. During the process to help the others and to improve myself. :-)

I do appreciate your understanding, directions and supports. I do hope to get your great help continuously now and in the coming time...

If you have any questions, comments and suggestions, please write to shirley@ebridge.cn , or shirleyz004@haoo.com, You are welcomed to publish your opinions in the forum, too. :-)
