The 17th Friendly Greeting From Shirley, China, Sun, Dec 11, 2005

Hi,Dear Friends

How are you? How is your week and weekend going? I do hope you are well and be enjoying the holiday season. : -)

On my side, the weather changes very big. On Monday, the temperature was still over 20 C degree. But, it was about 4 0r 5 C degrees on Tuesday night. Then, on Thursday, the temperature recovered near 20 C degree and it is said it will be in a very low temperature next week again. Many people have cold and I was not escaped as well. Anyway, in case I have been keeping on sport exercise ? running, playing tennis or some balls and now I am interested in running up the stairs from the first floor to the 6th floor every day at least twice and keep in a very healthy body and psychology, so, what I did to treat my cold was just to sleep for awhile, then, everything has been ok. : -)

This week a fun thing is making me smile that a friend first time visited my Gouache Painting and would like to order Gouache--092: Hi, Be Careful, Big Panda! Or asks me to re-paint a new one according to the special size and requirement as my first customer . Even though I am used of to painting freely and feel a little bit difficult to be asked the size, scene and color stone. Anyway, I am going to try to do that as an interesting exploring in the coming New Year holiday or Chinese New Year holiday.

In fact, after I completed my Gouache ?037: Hare that I learned to paint from learning Mr. John James Audubon (1785-1851) ? the greatest American birds artist in 2003, my teacher told me that I could try to make my painting into the market. However, I have not been thinking of that for I would like to learn more with a calm, pure and peaceful heart. After all, much time and many years have been wasted in my golden times. I would really like to cherish the treasured time and wonderful society circumstance around me in today's China.

After all, to enjoy the delight and singing of heart from the creating process is attracting me more than something else... :-) Am I a foolish one? :-)

Chinese Xieyi--055(Flower & Bird): Dream Of The Spring...
My teacher asked me to create a picture of birds and plum blossoms with Chinese freehand brushwork within 1 hour in my art lesson. But, I spent it for 1 hour and 40 minutes. This style picture asks me to paint with brushers and colors directly. So, I have to make the birds in my heart very clear and make sure where my every brusher should be on, otherwise, one wrong brusher will destroy one picture :-) As most of times, I had no time to have my dinner before I started my art lesson. However, I was smiling when I completed the picture. As same as my birds are thinking on the picture -- since it is the coldest and most difficult time, then the spring will not too far away. Right?
Chinese Classical Poem--0021:Fude Guyuan Cao Songbie -- Sending Off On The Ancient Grassland
Many friends have known the line that Yehuo shao bujin, chunfeng chui you sheng ? the wildfire can not burn the grass completely, as soon as the spring wind is blowing, they are growing out of the land again. This line at the first was just in a poem by Bai Juyi (A. D.772 ? A. D.846) as a background of him to send his friend, now, it has been used to express the meaning that any wonderful thing can not be cut down and destroyed by the cruel ways forever and be used in many articles, movies or literature works. For helping you to understand the meaning and the emotion that the original poem, I created and played a piece of music to match it and hope you enjoy it.
Chinese Art Song--008:Die Lian Hua - Butterfly Loves Flower
Since I realized that my vocal music level had no a big improvement for being busy on recording some new songs, both of my teacher and I have been focusing our energy on Chinese art songs because it is the basic for me to learn the other styles singing. Saturday night, I review a song that its lyrics is a poem -- Die Lian Hua --Butterfly Loves Flower by the former Chinese leader Mr. Mao Zedong that we have learned in Sept. Hope it is help to you to re-understand this poem as well.
Chinese in Current Affairs--0012(Sentenc: 033-035): How to Say "Foreign Bank In China -- Airbus -- N.Y.C.Snow"
I am still exploring how to offer you a best way to help you to learning Chinese. I am continuing to work on the daily Chinese with my new system and hope to get your responding, direction and help.
Shirley's Writing: Reading Note --001: Thinking Of Something From Hamlet...:-)
This is a little essay of mine as an English writing practice 4 years ago when I decided to improve my English. To be honest, since I came to the city 12 years ago, how long time have I not touched a literature book? It sounds like I have been busy and swimming in my professional field and sea to enjoy the delight from some very logic thoughts and work so that I have forgot there are still the other beautiful things in the world and around me. In case the paiting and music learning started to help me to go out of a very narrow ring 3 years ago and in case now I re-start to touch literature again. What a beautiful life it is! I can not help to smile now. How about you? Have you had anytime to enjoy something beautiful from art, music and literature?

I am just a learner on art, music, English and the work on the web site. Anyway, I would really like to do a little bit things with what I have learned to make this little web site to beAn Electronic Bridge Of Culture Exchange, Friendship, and Language Learning. During the process to help the others and to improve myself. :-)

I am so lucky that I have got many directions and supports from you. I would really like to thank you for your kind understanding and great help.
