Learning, Improvement, Obligation--Shirley's 136th Friendly Greeting -- Sun, April 13, 2008

Hi,Dear Friends

How are you? I do hope that you are well, have an easy and relaxed weekend.

This week, our company organized a donation and we sent some volunteers to plant trees in Inner Mongolia to block the desert. We have done the job as an obligation of an enterprise citizen for 5 years already. Also this is the second time that we donated a part of our salary to support the others in 2008. The first time was in February and we did that to support the disaster area that was suffering the snowy and the icy. The average donation of the general manager office is about 10 times higher than the others. There was no one forcing us, we just thought that since the society offers us higher salary, we should return it when it needs.

One of the most important things this week is that our magazine office has taken part in the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2008 in Hainai. We went there not only because we are a press unit but also for we are one of the cooperation unites of the Forum as the only magazine office since our new company was found.

I am interested in the themes of the forum: "Green Asia: moving towards win-win through changes". I watched the open ceremony and heard all of the speeches of the country leaders via TV Saturday afternoon.

A deep impression is that more and more countries and the important members of the governments are caring for the earth and want to protect it and the environment. More and more people are thinking how to get along with the nature harmoniously.

During the time, I was also attracted by two country leaders from Australia and Kazakhstan. Wow! What fluent Chinese they were speaking!

I could not help applauding for them. And I suddenly realized that I should work harder on my own little web site Shirley’s World in my free time, to explore a unique running model to show the others Chinese with my own music, painting creations while to make Chinese culture as its background.

So, I went to my English lesson at 8:40am Sunday. I wanted to improve my English level as a tool. I am very glad that the English lesson is helping me to realize so many grammar mistakes that I had been making for a long time. Now, I have had a strong feeling to learn English grammar first time.

How about you? Do you have anything excited in your life or work?

Shirley Created Art -- Gouache --0125: The Harmonious
Mountains, water, sky, clouds, plants and birds are something I favorite to paint. Every morning, when I open my eyes in the singing of birds, walk in the avenues, see the mountains far away and the white clouds in the sky, my heart is peaceful with much appreciation to the great nature for it has created a beauty and harmonious earth for us. According to a Chinese ancient philosophy theory, harmony is just beauty. So, mountains should not leave away from water, the moon should not leave from sun, the birds should not leave from trees and the men should not leave from women. Just the relying on and the interacting each other, make things live in a harmony. So, I like to paint the mountains and water together, flowers and birds together, even, I want to paint the moon and sun together. With the appreciated heart, I completed this painting and hope you enjoy it.

Bilingual Song--0027: Shirley Sings the Chinese (Inner Mongolian) Folk Song --0066: "Mu Ge - Pastoral" in English & Chinese
My vocal music teacher has come back, but, I had no time to have her lesson at the time that she arranged for me, for I had to attend my English lesson Sunday morning. So, I reviewed a Chinese folk song. I sang and recorded it in English and Chinese independently. There are only 4 sentences in it, but, I did not think it is easy to translate and to sing. I called my colleague to ask help and I recorded it for 6 hours Sunday afternoon and night. I enjoy its beautiful tone and I felt it has taken me to the wide grassland. I do hope that my effort will be a little bit help to you to know Chinese culture and to improve your Chinese listening level, while to improve myself via the work.

Chinese in Current Affairs -0033(Sentences:201 - 203): How to Say "The Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2008 Opened"
My occupation makes me interested in the important economy news, so, I watched the opening ceremony of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2008 on TV. I was attracted by the great opinions of the country leaders. I was applause when I heard the premier of Australia and the president of Kazakhstan speaking in Chinese. So, I would like to show you some new sentences about the Forum and hope it is a little bit hope to you to learn Chinese.

I am just a learner on that art of painting, music, calligraphy, languages and to work on the web site in my free time. I would really like to do a little bit things with what I have learned to make this little web site to be An Electronic Bridge Of Culture Exchange, Friendship and Language Learning. To help the others while to improve myself.

I appreciate your understanding, directions and supports. I do hope to get your friendly help...

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, welcome to write to shirley@ebridge.cn or shirleyz004@yahoo.com, or to publish your opinions in the forum.
