The 7th Friendly Greeting From Shirley, China, On Sun.,Oct 9, 2005

Hi,Dear Friends

This is 7th friendly greeting from Shirley, China.

Today is Sunday on my side, maybe your Saturday or Sunday. How are you? How is your weekend going? I am going back to work in the afternoon after a holiday trip for a week. I would like to send you something I did on the weekend and in my holiday and hope you enjoy them and bring you a big smile before I start my work in the office... :-)

Also, I would like to apologize to you for the system had some problems so that the 6th letter to be sent you many times last Sunday. I do hope that it did not make too many troubles for you indeed. I have asked my technology supporters to check the problems already and I do hope to get you excuse and understanding...:-)

Thanks so much for the friends who wrote to me during my holiday, I had read all of letters and I will write back to you soon and also I will choose some of your friendly and helpful opinions and comments and English lessons on the web site next week… :- )

Chinese Xieyi--049(Flower & Bird): Peonies Practice
I had my art lesson with the sleepy eyes as soon as I came back Shenzhen and my flowers also in a sleepy. :- ) Maybe you will also ask why Shirley does not rest much more? Last Oct., I had a travel in Yunan and Guangxi to visit the local people in the mountains areas. First time I knew there are still so many Chinese children living and studying in a very poor situation. The fee for me to learn art 3 times is enough for them to stay in the elementary school for one year. This Oct., I also knew one of my best friends’ son who had been enrolled by Harvard University, but he gave up the opportunity and went to the other university for the same problem. I was weeping when I saw and heard these and I gave whole of money in my pockets and I do feel that I should cherish life, friends, opportunities and what I have had much more, to do my best to learn and to do something that I really love and be benefit to the others and the world as much as possible...
China (Shan Xi) Folk Song: Xiu He Bao-- Embroider Pouch
If you came to Shanxi, Yunnan and Sichuan in China, you would hear a local folk song Xiu He Bao ? Embroider Pouch. Pouches are something that young boys tie on their waists for taking some little things or money. There is a customs that local girls embroider pouches for their boyfriends, lovers or someone who are in their hearts to express love as keepsakes. So, if you receive a pouch from a young girl who are from the places, you have to be careful.:-)
I learned the song in my vocal music lesson last night. However, I found that my piano was in a wrong tone in the morning and I re-recorded it with an accompanying CD. Anyway, I could not find the feeling and my breath could not enter my head cavity. Just sing it for you to do a Chinese listening training. Ok?
Chinese Classical Poem--0012: Chi Le Ge -- A Song Of Chi Le
I love the poem Che Le Ge-- Song of Che Le for it describes a vast and peaceful landscape and also for it had saved an army when it was almost defeated totally. I wanted to write a piece of music to match it for a long time and I had tried for over 10 times. However, until I was on the airplane, when I faced the vast cloud sea out of the window, I just found the feeling and wrote out the first 2 sentences. Then, I got the inspiration when I was in my parents and brother’s home from a piano music by my niece. I completed it with her piano with stepping on the silencer in the midnight on Oct 4. Do you enjoy it? What is your feeling about it?

Chinese in Current Affairs --002: How to Say" The Festival Of China in The U.S." in Chinese
When I was in the airplane from Shenzhen to Wuxi, I read a newspaper and knew that The Festival of China, an unprecedented culture event cosponsored by the United States and China started on Oct 1 and it will keep for one month. So, I decided to make this topic as this week’s topic for Daily Chinese this week. However, after I finished the work, I have not very clear whether it is suitable for you to learn Chinese with this way. Could you please give me your opinions about it?

I am just a learner no matter on art, music, English, Chinese language and literature and the work on the web site. Anyway, I would really like to do a little bit things with what I have learned to make this little web site to be An Electronic Bridge Of Culture Exchange, Friendship, and Language Learning. So, I really hope to get your help, support, and directions on matter on English language, cultures, skills or anything else.

If you have any questions, requests, advice, comments, suggestions, please write to shirley@ebridge.cn or shirleyz004@yahoo.com. You are welcomed.
