To Live & Work With A Thankful Heart -- Shirley's 116th Friendly Greeting--Sun, Dec 2, 2007

Hi,Dear Friends
 How are you? I do hope that you are well and have an easy and relaxed weekend.
It is near the end of a year, I am busier in the company. Almost every Saturday I worked in the company. Last Saturday, we had a fire fighting rehearsal. The first time I touched a fire extinguisher and learned how to use it. This Saturday, I attended a training, that every preparative listed company has to do by some lawyer office, accountant office and stock-jobber in a company that our company has invested.
In fact, since I became a manager in 1994, most of the time I have worked for 6 days each week without any overtime salary, as my underling had. But most of time, I worked with smiles, because I enjoyed my creative work in the industry. Even though, it was often very hard and sometimes I was burnt out. This Saturday, after the long time training and meeting in the company, I was so tired that I had a long sleep for 13 hours, even. I had no a power to have my dinner at all.
I often think that anything has its two sides -- a bad side and a sad side. The key is what we choose to see and to feel. For me, I had to work, when most of people were enjoying their weekends, it is a bad thing and it is a good thing. The good side is that I have learned something more than the others. The more knowledge and more skills have helped me to get more opportunities in the hot competitive times. Maybe it is just the reason that I have been invited 17 times by the other companies, when many people were worrying to be fired or to be unemployed.
With a thankful heart, I am working for the company in my free time. With a appreciated heart, I am living in the world.
Yes, I appreciate my parents have given me an alive life; I appreciate my son, brother and sisters have given me a kind family feeling; I appreciate the past hard life in my teenage times had brought me a strong will and rich spirit fortune; I appreciate my teachers have educated me to be a teacher, a manager, a learner of painting, music, language; I appreciate my bosses have offered me some opportunities to extend my talent and I appreciate my colleagues have supported me to work, I appreciate you and all of the friends have showed your friendship, care for and much help; I appreciate the great nature has created every mountain, river and the beautiful world for us. Even, I appreciate my little birds that have given me much beautiful enjoyment.
Can you imagine? This week, I have brought 4 baby birds as my painting models -- two parrots and two canary birds. Every day, I look after them in person, observe them and enjoy their lovely songs; they have really brought me so many joyous smiles
I do think that the God has given all of us a same happy opportunity. If we can see and choose the positive parts with a thankful heart, we will be happy and in a good emotion even though we are in a temporary hard time sometimes.

Shirley Created Art -- Gouache--0102: Among the Mountians & Water
This is the second time that I painted a Gouache Painting in my art lesson. As usual, my teacher did not allow me to make any draft at first with a pencil and asked me to paint this picture with a brush and color directly, as I painted a Chinese Xieyi Painting. This lesson made me realize, that the gouaches, that I had painted before were not real Gouaches, but something similar to the Chinese Gongbi Painting with the Gouache colors. I feel shame for my uneducated and I am glad that I have known it. So, I have bought 10 new books of Gouache teaching this week. I would really like to paint as many as possible in the coming time. My teacher thought that I had done a good job because of my good feeling of colors. So, I have gotten 90 marks. How do you think of my new picture? Do you enjoy it?

Bilingual Song--0018: Shirley Sings the Chinese (Xinjiang) Folk Song--0065 "Dang Jinfend Chuilai de Shihou -- When the Golden Wind Blows to the Land" in English & Chinese
When my new vocal music teacher went to Xian Music College for a business trip, my first vocal music teacher came back from her traveling of becoming a nun. So, she will continue to teach me Chinese folk songs, while I invite my new teacher to teach me art song and Italian song. I will continue to learn how to sing mainly in my new teacher’s lesson and to have a practice in my first teacher’s lesson. This week, I learned a Chinese folk song and I have translated it into English and sing it in Chinese and English. I do hope that my effort will be a little bit help to you to improve your Chinese listening level while to improve my own English, too.

Chinese Classical Poem --0084 (By Xu Hun) & Shirley Created Music-0074:Xie Ting Songbie -- Sending-off by Xie Storied Building
With 28 characters, this poem has written several views with singing, mountain, river, boat, wine and building, and makes all of them together to paint out several beautiful views. In a piece of songs of sending-off, a friend of the poet was sailing on a boat over a river, between the green mountains with red leaves, seeing his friend was going far away while drinking a cup of wine one by one and getting sleepy and unconsciously. At the nightfall time, he suddenly woke up and found that his friend could not been seen again, in a rain and wind, he went down the West storied building. I have created a piece of music and a picture to match it. I really hope that my singing and painting will be a little bit help to you to understand this poem and to learn Chinese language and culture.

Chinese in Current Affairs-0026(Sentences:180 - 182): How to Say "In a First, PLA Ship Docks at Japan Port"
When I read the news, A missile destroyer "Shenzhen" docked at Japanese port at the first time, I felt double happiness. On hand, I am happy for the "Spring has already come to China ? Japan relations"; the other hand, I am happy that this ship is named after Shenzhen -- my 4th hometown, the city that I am living and working in now. So, I would like to show you some new Chinese sentences about this topic and to help to you to know Chinese culture and to learn Chinese language.
