Title: Shirley Created Art 502 - Chinese Xieyi -279: Water Lily Practice - April 8, 2010
Artist: Shirley Zhang
Size: 114.00cm x 50.00cm (44.88inches x 19.69inches)
Completed Time: April 8, 2010
Remarks:
This is my 279thChinese Xieyi Painting and my 502nd painting since 2003. Also, it is the 28th (47th) painting (practice) that I have created in 2010.

Water lily is one of Chinese people favorite flowers. We love it for it is living in the mud, it can still keep opening clean flowers, to keep a cleaning and helpful hearts. Also, all of the things on her body are all helpful and useful for the human being, just like those great people who offer whole of their lives to help the others...

As one of the important traditional Chinese ethics, we usually project our moral ideals into the water lily. To educate our children and people to learn from water lily.

Therefore, there are many art works to admire water lily in Chinese art and literature history.

My original idea was to create this painting to match one of the most famous poems by Song Dynasty poet Yang Wangli that I had introduced in 2005. But, for this painting has too many problems on structure, Chinese ink’ using and flowers' creating. So, now, I put it in the column of Chinese Xieyi temporarily, later, when I have time, I will re-create it.

Since Yang Wanli is one of the most famous poets who wrote Water Lily. I have introduced some of them for you on the web sit, hope you enjoy them:

Classical Poem & Shirley Created Music 039: Xiao Chi- Little Pool by Yang Wanli

Classical Poem 030: Water Lily in June by Yang Wanli

How do you think of this painting? Do you like it?
