Artist: Shirley Zhang
Size: 69.5cm x 34.5cm ( 23.36inches x 13.58inches)
Completed Time: Jan 16, 2010
Remarks:
This is my 253rdChinese Xieyi Painting and my 476th painting since 2003.Also, it is the 3rd painting that I have painted in 2010.

Even though I told you that this is the 3rd painting that I created in 2010, in fact, I have created and painted 18 paintings in the past 17 days in 2010 already. I mean that i made many many practice and just put 3 of them to be listed into my painting numbers. :-)

My art teacher told me that an artist should make the practice on Orchids for whole of his/her life and to make the practice on Bamboo for a half of his/her life, for the orchid is the most difficult thing to paint and the bamboo is the second.

But, for me, my feeling is that bamboo is the most difficult thing to paint. :-) In the first night of the last Spring Holiday when I was in the US, I painted it for whole of the night, but, I did not satisfy any one of them. This two weeks, I painted 16 paintings, I just listed few of thee here...

I do feel that maybe Bamboo should be the thing that I will have to make practice for whole of my life... :-)

So, the small paintings in this page are the works that I created according to the opinions of my teacher in my lesson and after the lesson as my the homework.

After I painted the 9th time, I suddenly had my own ideas to create my own painting. Then, I created the two bigger ones and I hope in the new paintings there is something new that belongs to Shirley myself. :-)

Have you felt that? Do you like them?
