This is my 100th Chinese Xieyi -- Freehand Brushworks painting that I created in my art lesson Wednesday night.

I re-started to learn to paint Gouache since March, 2003 and I started to learn Chinese Xieyi picture from November in the same year. I still remember how I did not want to learn it and to paint my first bird with a trembling hand at the first... however, now, 3 years has past, I am getting interested in it more and more, The create process has become an enjoyment... :-)

My Chinese art teacher was proud of my progress and he showed my painting in his art college class and to ask their students to learn from me, not only for the painting itself, but for the spirit to learn every day and the work hard... :-) I was smiling when I heard it. In fact, I more admire these young students who have so good opportunity to learn art full time in an art college. Maybe, just for the reason that I have no the same opportunity to learn art as they do, and most of time, I have no time to have my dinner or supper before my art lesson is started, so, I more cherish every minute to learn from a professional teacher in the limited 2 to 3 hours weekly…

I do appreciate my Chinese art teacher for he has been keeping his fee standard for 3 years and a half year, when the other students’ fee standard has been raised much along with time. Even though I want to pay same money as the other students, but, my teacher thought that to offer a lesson for me is also a process to learn or create something, because I am the student who has the most alive thoughts and best creative ability in his students, sometimes, I also give him some creative inspiration and new ideas.

Wow! What a lucky student I am!

My teacher thought that every single part of this picture is good, but the composition of the picture seemed like a little bit loose, so, I could just be given 80 marks. :-)

Ha, 80 marks. Is it too less or too many? What is your thought? :-)
